The Lodge Cast Iron Museum is planned to open this summer in Lodge’s hometown since 1896, South Pittsburg. The museum will offer behind-the-scenes making of cast iron products, immersive history displays, cast iron cooking, and a deep dive into the robust culture that surrounds it. 

The museum will have three interactive exhibitions: How It’s Made, a recreation of the foundry experience; Lodge History & Legacy, highlighting the ingenuity that’s kept Lodge thriving generation after generation; and Cast Iron Culture, spotlighting the diverse uses of cast iron from the campfire to the kitchen. The Cast Iron Culture exhibit will highlight Southern food and cooks through a partnership with the Southern Foodways Alliance. 

In addition to the exhibits, the museum will have the world’s largest cast iron skillet measuring 18 feet from handle to handle. The skillet traveled down I-59, surprising many drivers as it was on its way to the museum. 

After viewing the museum, visitors can stop by the Lodge Factory Store where they can browse the largest selection of cast iron cookware. The store offers everything from cast iron skillets to fluted cake pans to Dutch ovens. 

The museum is designed to celebrate the community that has surrounded Lodge Cast Iron for the past 125 years. The museum will highlight locals as well as people traveling from all over to visit the museum and learn more about the beloved Lodge cookware that brings families together for generations.
