Makers' Market Supports Marion County Community
From April to September, shoppers can support local artists, gardeners, and farmers at the Marion County Makers Market on the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Located at the Courthouse Square in Jasper, the market originally started as a one-time event in April 2021. After receiving positive feedback from the community, the makers’ market quickly adjusted to meet demand by becoming a monthly event throughout the spring and summer.
“Visiting the market allows our community to shop local,” Marion County Makers Market owner Cassi Hood said. “This gives local artisans and small business owners the opportunity to advertise their products, and it is a great way to experience community arts, crafts and other locally produced goods. Some of our makers and visitors don't have social media, so the market provides access for them that wasn't available previously.”
The market only accepts vendors from Marion County. At the market, shoppers can find local makers that produce items such as home decor, woodwork, jerky, baked goods, honey, produce, jewelry and much more.
“Supporting local businesses builds a stronger community,” Cassi said. “Events such as the Makers Market are an asset.”
Anyone interested in supporting the community through Marion County Makers’ Market can visit the upcoming markets on Aug. 7 and Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..
