PUBLIC NOTICE

Please be aware, beginning June 23rd, 2019 at midnight, State Route 2 US 41 will be closed.  Mandatory repair work must be made to aide in a previous slide damaging the road.  It is estimated approximately eighty five homes will be impacted from emergency responders.  In order to provide assistance, we have met with TDOT, Tn Hwy Patrol, Marion County EMA Director Steve Lamb, Sheriff Bo Burnett, Haletown Fire Chief Mike Tuders, Puckett Ambulance Services as well as members of the 911 Dispatch to discuss an emergency plan to provide the best possible service to the citizens located east of the slide.

We have reached out to Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke to work out a Mutual Aid Agreement with the Chattanooga Fire Department to provide fire protection and any other needs that might arise.  Chattanooga Fire Chief Hyman has sent over the Mutual Aid Agreement this morning and it has been signed and is now in place.  Ambulance coverage will be provided by Puckett EMS out of their Rossville Blvd., Station, with an estimated time to reach of approximately 20-25 minutes.  Additionally, TN Hwy Patrol will make extra patrols in the area during the closure to help with any calls that are received.

TDOT and the contractor anticipate repair completion within ten days barring any unforeseen problems.  Upon completion, please be aware this area will remain one lane controlled by a traffic light.  Projected completion by TDOT is expected to be November of this year.

We are grateful the State of Tn and TDOT have funded these repairs, making a safer road to travel.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation to Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke, Chattanooga Fire Chief Hyman, as well as everyone involved to initiate this Emergency Plan.

Please feel free to contact my office should you have any questions.
