About
There is more to Marion County than is readily apparent with a casual drive through the valley. In Marion County you can see the beautiful mountains, picturesque Nickajack Lake, and the Tennessee River Gorge which runs for miles along Highway 41 and some of the most interesting old bridges in the south. But when you have had enough driving, fishing, skiing, caving, birding, four wheeling, camping, bouldering and hiking you may want to look a little deeper for everything from dinner theater to museums.
We are a right sized community nestled between the Tennessee River and beautiful mountain ranges just 25 miles west of Chattanooga and 100 miles southeast of Nashville just off Interstate 24. The residents enjoy the luxury of peaceful country living with the advantage of metropolitan life just down the road.
Not only are we blessed with beautiful surroundings; we have so many wonderfully talented people in our midst who contribute their time and energies to a variety of causes. Our National Cornbread Festival attracts people from all over the world and one of our middle schools continues to draw international attention for its "Paper Clip" project promoting cultural understanding. Our Jasper Regional History museum is also a testimony to our citizens’ volunteerism.
