From The Mayor:
Hello, I am Mayor David Jackson. I’m a lifelong resident of Marion County, I was born and raised in Kimball, attended school at Jasper Elementary, and graduated from Marion County High School in 1979.
I worked for Lodge Manufacturing for 34 plus years, the last 20 years as a supervisor for the company.
I began my public service career in February 1990 when I was appointed as an Alderman for the Town of Kimball and in November 1990 I was elected to serve my first full term as Alderman. I served as Vice Mayor of Kimball for about 6 years and in 2003 I began serving as the Mayor of Kimball after the passing of Mayor Jere Davis. I served as the Mayor of Kimball until September 2014.
I was elected Marion County Mayor in 2014 and have enjoyed the time I have been serving all of the people of our County. It makes my job a lot easier when I have a County Commission that works well with me and wants to see the County be a better place to live and work. I am also fortunate to have County Office holders that are a great team to work with and they too want to continue to see our County grow for years to come.
The future of Marion County is bright with growth at our current industries and residential growth flourishing throughout the County. The County is financially strong and along with the growth our bond rating was recently upgraded to A1 from an AA.
We have a group of public and private business leaders that have created the Marion County Tennessee Partnership for Economic Development often referred to as MCTPED. Funds managed by this group are used to assist current industries with a variety of projects. This group also assists in locating new industry interested in moving to our County. MCTPED is united in their efforts to grow Marion County to its full economic development potential and continue to explore opportunities for Marion County to be a better place to live and work.
Whether you are a business, industry, or someone that is looking for a great place to call home please look at Marion County. We are centrally located, you can travel to several major cities in a reasonable amount of time. Marion County has much to offer in natural beauty. We are home to Nickajack Lake on the beautiful Tennessee River, two fantastic rock climbing venues, Foster Falls and Denny Cove which are both a part of the South Cumberland State Park. We have so many other things for you to do in Marion County so please come and let us show you just how great Marion County is.
