Denny Cove is part of South Cumberland State Park. The beautiful area offers rock climbing, hiking, scenic views and a gorgeous waterfall, Denny Falls. Denny Cove Overlook Trail is an easy 1.2-mile out-and-back trail located near Sequatchie, Tennessee. According to AllTrails, it takes about 30 minutes to hike from start to finish, and the best time to visit is March through December. Those interested in other outdoor activities can also bird-watch and climb at Denny Cove.

Little Cedar Mountain Trail is located in Jasper, Tennessee, about 3 miles northwest of Nickajack Dam. This 3.2-mile-loop TVA trail is relatively easy with the exception of a few steep climbs, but the hike is all worth it when you see the overlook. According to AllTrails, it takes an average of an hour and 21 minutes to complete, and the trail is beautiful to visit year-round. Stick to the main loop trail for the best views. There is plenty of convenient parking and it’s right off the highway, making it a convenient stop for visitors and locals alike.

Prentice Cooper State Forest consists of over 24,000 acres of land located mostly in east-central Marion County. There are several hiking trails in Prentice Cooper State Forest, many of which include views of the scenic Tennessee River Gorge. One trail, Permission Road Loop, is a quiet 5.9-mile loop trail. According to AllTrails, it is moderately challenging and takes an average of three hours to complete. This trail is rocky and offers access to off-roading, overlooks, and creeks.

The Fiery Gizzard Trail runs from Tracy City, Tennessee to Foster Falls in Marion County, Tennessee. According to AllTrails, it’s a challenging 11.4-mile loop that takes an average of 4 hours and 51 minutes to complete, and the best times to visit are April through November. Backpacker Magazine named the trail as one of the top 25 hiking trails in the United States due to its beauty and biodiversity.
