Marion County Market Returns April 8 with New Leadership

The Marion County Market will be back on April 8 with new ownership and a few updates! As Jasper residents, new market owner Zack and market partner Monica are excited to expand the market and help it continue to succeed in Marion County.

One noticeable change is the market will be on the second Saturday of the month instead of the first Saturday. The market’s new name is “Marion County Market,” representing that all types of vendors can participate. Previously, the name was “Marion County Makers Market” because only vendors who produced their own product could participate.

Additionally, the grass area will now be utilized during the market, creating space for more food vendors, tables, and chairs. Zach and Monica hope to have live music and a special activity or theme for each market.

“We are so excited to be taking over the Marion County Market,” Zack and Monica said. “Cassi Hood previously ran the market and did such an amazing job getting it off the ground and turning it into something that the entire county can enjoy. Our goal is not to change anything Cassi did but rather make the market even bigger.”

The first market of the year will be the Easter Market on April 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Courthouse Square in Jasper. The schedule will run from April-December with the market falling on the second Saturday of the month. However, the market owners plan to partner with the City of Jasper for a few special events that may occur on a different day.

Any and all vendors are welcome to get involved with the market. Now, small business owners in the area who sell from a third-party or own a storefront are able to participate as a vendor. To sign up, follow Marion County Market on Facebook and Instagram where they will post about how to pick your vendor spot and make a payment prior to each month’s market.

“The market is called the Marion County Market for a reason,” Zack and Monica said. “This is everyone’s hometown market. It’s an opportunity for all the towns to come together and offer a fun event for the community to enjoy, while supporting local businesses and purchasing some amazing products.”
