Cedar and Co. Brings Community-Focused Vendor Market to South Pittsburg

Cedar and Co., a retail hub that stands for quality and community, recently opened its doors in South Pittsburg. At the store, visitors will find a diverse range of products from local vendors, including handcrafted artisan goods, locally sourced produce, and much more.

The shop was founded in 2023 by Project 36 Artistry owners and Market in the Burg organizers Melissa Tucker and Kelley Graham, and StoryShack Books owner Megan Duggar. The trio met after StoryShack Books participated as a vendor in Arts in the Burg, leading them to discuss the benefits of a permanent location for vendors, especially during the after-market season.

“We knew we would have the support from the vendors as it provides them a place to display their products, but we never could have dreamed of what it is today,” Cedar and Co. founder Megan Duggar said. “We are in awe of the support we have received from the community at Cedar and Co. and that we can allow customers to meet local artisans and show the magnitude of talent we have in our community.”

The store is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dozens of vendors are currently set up in-house, including Project 36 Artistry, Story Shack Books, Battle Scars Engraving, Sassys Soaps and Scrub, Wildflower Bakery & Co., and more.

Cedar and Co. believes shopping locally builds trust between vendors and customers, strengthening the community. Customers know where their products are coming from, and in turn, customers are able to support vendors’ passions, whether they pursue them as a full-time job or a hobby.

“Marion County has a real sense of community,” Megan Duggar said. “You can see that during football season when schools support one another in state championships, the hundreds of volunteers that show up to make the National Cornbread Festival happen each year, and the many small businesses that have opened over the past few years that have grown because of the support from the community as a whole.”
